What happens when workplace enemies are forced to call a truce… and sparks fly?
Amy Buchanan’s Let’s Call a Truce is a rom-com that delivers more than just flirty banter and awkward coffee runs—it offers heart, growth, and an authentic look at grief, healing, and second chances. If you're in the mood for a story that balances laughs with real emotional stakes, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.
After the unexpected death of her husband, Juliana finds herself back in the workforce after years as a stay-at-home mom. But her return isn’t exactly smooth—especially when she overhears her coworker Ben criticizing her lack of experience and work ethic. Determined to prove him wrong, she throws herself into her job, sparking an unspoken feud between them that lasts two years. When they're finally forced to team up on a high-stakes project, the tension shifts—and so does their dynamic.
When you think of a rom-com, you generally expect something light and easygoing, but Let’s Call a Truce surprised me in the best way with its emotional depth and layered storytelling.
The witty banter between Juliana and Ben had me grinning and kicking my feet like I was watching my favorite rom-com unfold on screen. Their back-and-forth was electric, filled with laugh-out-loud moments and just the right amount of slow-burn tension.
What really stuck with me was the honest portrayal of grief and reinvention. Juliana’s journey, from mourning her husband to reclaiming her independence and identity, was moving and beautifully written. As a single mom trying to navigate both her career and her personal life, her struggles felt deeply real and relatable.
If I had one complaint, it’s that the feud between Juliana and Ben consistently veered into the overly petty, but even that added to the charm. Their rivalry had a humorous edge that made their eventual connection feel even more satisfying.
Enemies-to-lovers isn’t always my favorite trope, but this book is definitely one of the ones to make me a convert. Let’s Call a Truce is heartfelt, hilarious, and unexpectedly poignant. If you love workplace romances with a side of sass and soul, this one is well worth picking up.
Thank you so much to St. Martin's Press and the SMP Influencers program for sending me a physical copy of this book to read and review, along with a branded chapstick. This does not affect or influence my opinion of the story.

HEY, I’M CYNTHIA…
Welcome to my personal book haven! I’m all about diving into stories and chatting with fellow bookworms.
I read pretty much anything and everything in the fiction world, except for horror (it’s just a little too spooky for me!). But give me a twisted psychological thriller, and I’m in.
I also love reading ARCs (advance reader copies), so you’ll often find my reviews up before or right on the book's publication day.
Happy reading, and let’s get lost in stories together!
