Celebrating 10 Years of Book Blogging + Indie Author PR (Q1 Recap & Q2 Goals)

March came and went in a blur—and somehow, it’s already spring. While I’ve been seeing everyone reflect on Q1 and plan for Q2, I’m over here wondering how the year moved this fast.

But I couldn’t let this moment pass without celebrating a major milestone: 10 years of blogging.

Ten years ago, I published my first post reviewing ARCs from NetGalley. I still remember how drained I felt in my 9–6 at the time, and how much I needed a creative outlet in line with my reading hobby.

I never would've considered myself a blogger, but now, a decade later, am so proud and a little astonished of how far this blog has come, evolved, and grown.

To everyone who’s been here since the beginning, and those just finding me now, thank you. 💛

Q1 Recap: Life, Books, and Business Growth

A Season Full of Celebrations

This year started off more chaotic (and joyful) than usual.

Between my cousin’s wedding, my best friend’s engagement, family birthdays (including my youngest’s!), and the holidays, it’s been a quarter full of celebration, and a little bit of playing catch-up since December.

Growing My Indie Author PR Business

My work with indie authors has been booming, and I’m so grateful for it.

  • I added a new monthly PR client (an author I’ve followed for nearly three years!)

  • Built a pipeline of new authors looking to work together

  • Secured 12+ interviews and book signing events for clients

With that growth, I’m also being intentional about not overbooking so I can continue delivering high-quality results.

2026: The Year of Travel ✈️

After years of putting travel on the back burner, this is finally the year I say yes to it again.

Here’s what’s on the calendar:

  • Dallas, TX – Dreamers & Readers Festival (more on that below 👀)

  • New York City – BookCon (coming up soon!)

  • Portugal – a long-overdue three-week family trip

  • Salem, MA – bachelorette getaway

  • Mexico– destination wedding celebrations

It’s a lot, but it’s the kind of full that feels really good and exciting.

Reading Update 📚

Despite everything, I’ve still managed to read 19 books so far this year (with a couple still under wraps 👀).

Dallas, You Were a Dream

From Cancellation to Community Magic

I was already booked to go to Dallas at the beginning of March with paranormal romantasy author Rebecca Parcha. Our flights were booked and hundreds of her books had already arrived in Texas when less than two weeks before the scheduled event, Dreamers & Readers was abruptly cancelled.

We were devasted...for a minute. The moment that the festival was cancelled, messages flooded in, chats were created, and the affected indie authors and vendors came together to figure out what to do. Most of us had unrefundable trips and they had boxes and boxes of books waiting in Texas with no way to get them except to go anyway. The way that this community rallied together was unparalled and awe-inspiring.

within 48 hours, a brand-new event was created:

Rewritten Book Festival. Not only did a local venue offer their space for free, several indie bookstores offered their shops to the authors to set up tables in with their books, and an entire fantasy ball was planned, complete with a fantastique fantasy fashion show. It was epic!

I had the pleasure of booking Rebecca's schedule - locking in three bookstore slots, along with the Rewritten book festival and a ball each night. Navigating the labyrinth of Dallas highways was daunting, but the reception at each and every space was amazing - so incredibly welcoming and supportive.

It was an utterly exhausting four days, but in all the best ways and entirely wonderful. I truly think it was even more successful than Dreamers & Readers would have been, and we got to explore so much more of the city!

Q2 Goals: Systems, Growth, and New Resources

As I move into Q2, my focus is on structure and scalability.

I have a ton of excel sheets to manage media contacts, book stores across the country, and various book conferences around the world. Creating a database where I can keep track of my relationship with contacts and which clients they've featured will be crucial in being able to secure more opportunities, more efficiently for my clients while reducing redundant admin work.

Better systems = more time. More time = more space to better serve indie authors while also maintaining a better work-life balance, getting ready for the sunny summer with my boys, and, of course, all of the upcoming travel!

Coming Soon: Free PR Starter Kit for Indie Authors

I’m especially excited to share a brand-new resource soon. I have been creating a free PR starter kit for indie authors who want to start promoting their books but don’t know where to begin.

This resource will help authors:

  • DIY their PR strategy

  • Build visibility

  • Grow their audience

Stay tuned—it's coming soon! Join my email list to get the free PR starter kit first.

HEY, I’M CYNTHIA…

Welcome to my personal book haven! I’m all about diving into stories and chatting with fellow bookworms.

I read pretty much anything and everything in the fiction world, except for horror (it’s just a little too spooky for me!). But give me a twisted psychological thriller, and I’m in.

I also love reading ARCs (advance reader copies), so you’ll often find my reviews up before or right on the book's publication day.

Happy reading, and let’s get lost in stories together!
